Recreational Trails Program

Information

The RTP Grant Funding Opportunity for FY2024 will be open from May 1, 2023 to September 4, 2023.

The Recreational Trails Program (RTP) is funded by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and administered by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. This fund is made possible by a portion of the Federal motor fuel excise tax paid by users of off-road recreational vehicles such as snowmobiles, all-terrain vehicles, off-road motorcycles and off-road light trucks.

This fund is specifically for land acquisition for motorized or non-motorized trails, motorized or non-motorized trail development, trail-related support facilities and maintenance of both motorized and non-motorized trails.

Grant Selection

Project selection announcements occur via Nebraska Game and Parks release in late January of the award year.
